I saw your post about this on Instagram yesterday, and it brought me so much hope (and tears to my eyes 🙂).

Glad you made it here from Instagram, Jess! I really hope to amplify more such projects and stories, and create a sense of agency for everyone reading them.

I like this because it shows conservation as something a community can build, not something imposed from outside. The ocean recovered because people who depended on it made a hard choice together. How do we support more community-led conservation without turning it into another outside project?

Exactly! And these are the kind of stories I hope to share in this newsletter going forward. After reading your comment, I decided to add a section to the newsletter on how we can support this and the future projects I write about. Consciously looking for community-led projects on our travels and signing up for their offerings is a great way to support them.

Great newsletter and recommendations! After reading your second book, I have started to re think my travel choices (in a good way).

So glad to hear that my book had that impact, and also glad you enjoyed this newsletter. I'm excited about this shift from personal reflections to stories rooted in communities and climate!

Such fascinating creatures! And a great example of the havoc that can be unleashed when the ecosystem is disrupted.
